If you need a new driveway but don't like the way asphalt looks when it is new or when the color fades, then concrete is the ideal solution. Concrete driveways have a more neutral color, plus they have a long lifespan and usually require less maintenance than asphalt. You don't need to go with a plain white or gray surface for your concrete, though. There are a few enhancements you can make that give your driveway even better visual appeal. Here are some things you can do.
Your contractor can add color pigments to the concrete as the driveway is installed. You could choose a solid red, blue, or green color. You could even use multiple colors to create a design on the surface. Rather than color the entire driveway, you may want to add colorful stripes or curves that draw interest, but don't overpower your property.
Stamp The Concrete
The easiest way to create designs on your driveway is to have your contractor stamp it. This involves stamping a template into the cement when it is almost dry, so when it finishes drying, it looks like your driveway is composed of individual bricks or stones. Combine stamping with color, and you can create a look that mimics slate or brick. You could even create an artistic mosaic design so it looks like your driveway is made from colorful tiles or rocks of different sizes and colors.
One thing you can do that isn't too expensive and that adds visual interest to your driveway is to add borders along the length of each side. The borders could be made of different colors or enhanced with stamp designs. This not only makes your driveway more attractive, it also makes it easier for people to see the edges so there is less chance of someone driving along the edge and over your grass or landscaping. Even lights, such as solar stake lights, make great borders. Plus, they cast dramatic shadows over your driveway while illuminating it for visual effect and safety.
By using one of the methods above, you can create a beautiful driveway that accents your home and property. Since concrete is so easy to care for, the look you create should last for many years. Be sure to talk to your contractor about the right way to maintain the concrete because the sooner you repair damaged areas and remove stains, the better. For instance, if a tree root causes your driveway to heave or crack, you'll want to fix it right away so rain doesn't seep into the base underneath and cause further damage.Share

Hi there. My name is Murray Swanson. Welcome to my website about concrete contractors. When I started my home renovation project, I was stuck on what to do with the area outside my home. I knew I wanted to have a large circular driveway, but I did not know how to proceed with designing the pathways and other concrete structures. My contractors helped me create a perfect design and construct the pathways and driveway for my project. I will use this site to discuss all of the different services provided by concrete contractors. Please visit my website again soon to learn more.
